About Our Church

The Body of Believers known as First Baptist Church, was organized in 1899 in the Old Town of Canute. We were located in Downtown Elk City until 1985, when we officially moved to 1600 West Country Club.  The vision of those original plans for the new church building are still being realized.  Phase II of construction is now complete. A new Educational Wing on the west side of the present building, is now constructed.  It directly connects to the new Family Activities Center. This new wing houses the various Youth Departments of the church.  It contains the latest in audio-visual equipment and accessories.  The new Activities Center has men's and women's restrooms and changing rooms,a central control office, a full size gym, classrooms, a kitchen and dining areas (inside and outside).  The new courtyard (off of the outside dining area) has a fully equipped stage area for outside concerts, programs and worship services.  The members who make up First Baptist Church praise God from whom all blessings flow!  First Baptist Church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma and the Beckham/Mills Baptist Association. We fully support and contribute to the Cooperative Program of the SBC, which in turn gives these contributions to the International Mission Board, North American Mission Board and other local organizations.

We affirm the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message.Anyone may become a member of First Baptist's Family in the following ways:· Public profession of faith in Jesus Christ · Believers baptism, which we believe to be immersion · Promise of a Letter from sister Southern Baptist Church · Statement
